I was recently asked by a friend and co-worker, what my favorite book was for 2012. I couldn’t come up with a single title. Instead I came up with a long mental list and stuttered over my answer. How could I pick just one? I did find that there were several titles that I could narrow my list down to, but first, you should know that I love fantasy, mystery, apocalyptic and supernatural fiction (adult, teen and children’s). I won’t turn away from historical and realistic fiction either, but I rarely read non-fiction, unless it is to peruse a beautiful tome on interior design or art. Several titles that standout to me from this year are:
- Angel Maker, by Nick Harkaway
- Birthmarked, by Caragh M. Obrien
- The Fault in our Stars, by John Green
- Safekeeping, by Karen Hesse
- Shadow and Bone, by Leigh Bardugo
- Wonder, by R. J. Palacio
