BOOK Clubs Meeting

Morning and Evening book clubs are meeting this Wednesday.  Morning 11:00am.  The ladies will be discussing Sense and Sensibility.  They will be picking up Pope Joan.  They would love to have you join them.  Even if you haven’t read the book or read it a long time ago-I guarentee you will enjoy this discussion.

If 11:00 am doesnt’t work for you How about 7:00pm?  The evening book club will be meeting to discuss the Dante Club and pick up Devil in a white city. There is always room for one more so come and join us?

The First Novel Published in the United States
It was “Pamela, or Virtue Rewarded”, written by English novelist Samuel Richardson and published in America in 1774. The publisher was none other than Benjamin Franklin. An excellent biography entitled ‘Benjamin Franklin, An American Life” written by Walter Isaacson contains this and other fascinating facts about our greatest maxim-maker.

Examples: “Fish and visitors stink in three days;” “An ounce of protection is worth a pound of cure;” “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise;” “Three may keep a secret if two are dead.”
